Vascular Surgery

Our vascular services offer comprehensive care for patients with conditions affecting arteries, veins and the lymphatic system. It is delivered in both inpatient and outpatient services. This includes diagnosis, monitoring and treatment, including surgery, of any vascular problem.

This could include:

  • Management of varicose veins-including endovenous laser treatment
  • Surveillance of aneurysms, for example an aortic aneurysm
  • Arterial and venous ultrasound scanning
  • Management if acute limb ischemia (loss of blood supply)
  • Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) or Pulmonary Embolism (PE) treatment

Surgery

  • Carotid endartectomy – removing plaque that can narrow carotid arteries
  • Bypass graft surgery
  • Aneurysm repair (e.g abdominal aortic aneurysm) – repairing a bulge in the artery
  • Peripheral angioplasty and stenting for example renal (kidney) or mesenteric (intestine) arteries – widening and holding open arteries that are narrowed or collapsed.
  • 1st cervical rib removal for thoracic outlet syndrome

We use advanced tools and minimally invasive techniques to improve outcomes and reduce recovery times.

Vascular services are provided at Bournemouth Hospital. Some of these more major procedures are not offered at any other private Hospital in the area.
