Dr Weaver qualified from Oxford in 1993 and subsequently trained in Oxford, Bath, Cambridge, Sydney and Bournemouth. During his training he completed a PhD in inflammation at the University of Bath and specialised in Inflammatory Bowel Disease - Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. As a consultant he has been a national colonoscopy trainer and a national bowel cancer screening colonoscopist. Dr Weaver has developed an expertise in patient safety and quality improvement. He has a Masters in leadership and Quality Improvement and was the national quality improvement lead for inflammatory bowel disease for the Royal College of Physicians. He has had a number of national roles in safety and worked as Medical Director for Quality and Safety at University Hospitals Dorset. He is deputy Medical Director at the Invited Review Service for the Royal College of Physicians. He remains a practicing gastroenterologist with a special interest in gut disease and endoscopy. Having been a consultant for 20 years he very much enjoys seeing patients and tailoring the right care to the individual.
