About

Paul is a specialist consultant knee surgeon whose aim is to diagnose and treat your knee problem. He treats all knee conditions in people of all ages. Whether you have longstanding pain from wear and tear arthritis or have injured your knee he will carefully assess your case, organise any necessary scans and X-rays, and go through a variety of treatment options carefully considered to suit your individual needs.

Most of the patients Paul sees don’t need surgery, but most are very keen to know exactly what the problem is and what can be done to help. He works closely with a team of expert physiotherapists to ensure you receive the very best available treatment.

If surgery is required he uses proven and safe techniques to help treat your knee problem. He also keeps at the forefront of new technology and was the first knee surgeon on the south coast to offer Robotic Assisted Partial and Total Knee Replacements. He specialises in partial knee replacements, sometimes referred to as sports knee replacement or knee resurfacing.

Paul is passionate about sport and treat sportsmen and women of all ages and abilities and take great pride in returning people who have injured their knees to doing the hobbies they love.

As one of a handful of surgeons internationally who has been awarded 2 Knee Society Awards by the Knee Society of America, Paul has presented my research both nationally and internationally. He have published numerous articles in scientific journals and have authored chapters in textbooks of orthopaedic surgery. He train surgeons from both the UK and abroad in advanced techniques in knee surgery. His NHS base is at University Hospitals Dorset (Poole and Bournemouth) where he specialise in complex knee surgery. He is also the Deputy Care Group Medical Director for Surgery.

Paul is married to Emma, a local GP, and has two young sons. He is a classically trained guitarist and enjoys photography. He enjoys windsurfing, kite-surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, open water swimming and cycling. He has had his fair share of orthopaedic injuries so knows first hand what it takes to get back on track after surgery!

“Dear Mr Pavlou, Words can not express my gratitude for the difference you have made to my life. Thanks you, thank you, thank you!” Mrs A.P
