Private Health UHD is a private patient service across all University Hospitals Dorset sites. Private Health UHD has access to expert care from top UK consultants in a wide range of specialities. We provide the very highest standards of patient service, combined with the confidence of being in an NHS hospital.
We provide a safe, friendly and comfortable environment for patients and their families at times when they may feel at their most vulnerable. Our services are dedicated to the care and experience of the patient, treating people as individuals to fulfil their emotional needs as well as their health needs.
Being based within a major NHS hospital gives us immediate access to critical care services, specialist equipment and emergency teams. These services are often not available in a private hospital meaning that we are able to provide the safest environment for all our patients and provide private care to individuals who may be at higher risk when undergoing surgery.
Benefitting Our NHS Hospitals
Private Health UHD is a trading subsidiary of the registered charity Bournemouth and Poole Healthcare Trust (Charity Number: 1122497) owned by University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust. This means that any income we generate through providing private patient care goes back into the NHS hospital trust.
This not only supports the NHS trust financially, but in recent years has funded the purchase of a state-of-the-art Da-Vinci surgical robot, benefitting thousands of local people who need cancer surgery.
This means private patients receive the best of both worlds, fast healthcare with the confidence of being in an NHS hospital, and knowing that by selecting Private Health UHD they directly support the local NHS hospital.
The University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust is the largest acute care hospital trust in Dorset, serving a population of more than 800,00 people across Poole, Bournemouth, Christchurch, East Dorset and the New Forest.
Care Quality Commission
Private Health University Hospitals Dorset is regulated as part of University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and bound by the Health and Social Care Act 2008. The CQC is the independent regulator of health and social care, hospitals and nursing homes.
